VPS

If you are thinking I am trying to post about how you can set up your own computer to serve as a VPS or Virtual Private Server, then you are mistaken. It is just to tell you about what it is because hopefully I plan to do that with my own server so I can separate the resources for one thing and another to avoid collision of any sort. Hopefully I can learn that quickly and hopefully it won’t cost me a lot of money or any money at all.

A VPS is like a server, well it actually is a server, it is a virtual server. If a server has 2 gigabytes of RAM, you can set it so you have 4 customers on that server getting 512 MB of RAM each. And 4 times 512 mb is 2 gigabytes. It is efficient and it is a great way to make sure one person’s work never interferes with someone else’s.

If I cannot set this up I may actually get a VPS myself from an external company since it is cheaper than a dedicated server and if problems with hosting keeps on occurring, I may have no choice.

Climate Gift

Climate Gift is a search engine dedicated to the climate and of course, emphasizes the social need and responsibility to protect our environment so that our children and their children in the future do not suffer the bad fate we are leaving them with all our pollutants and other mishaps. You can visit the site at ClimateGift.com. They have a customizable portal so you can make the portal the way you want it to be so you can enjoy saving and protecting the environment your own way. You can find news and even play games all on their website and it is all for a good cause.

This is a basic natural search engine. If you do search on here, you will find how the results and listings are similar to those of a huge search engine that has been online since computers were born or even the newest search engine with their own search bots surfing through the internet for information. Imagine helping the cause and fight against global warming by just searching through the web for personal needs. You can even get on their website and get a widget for your blog, I’ll post an example below. Remember the name, Climate Gift, give your gift to the climate for being good to you over the years.

Santa Fe, NM (PRWeb) March 10, 2008 – Search Engine Corp has just announced its new, environmental Web search engine project, ClimateGift.com. This initiative was conceived of by ClimateGift’s parent company Search Engine Corp, the global leader in private label Web search engine development. The newest of these branded engines, ClimateGift.com, earmarks 50 percent of gross revenue generated from user searches for donation to designated environmental organizations. Environmental-minded businesses and individuals who would like to make their Web searches count can learn more about the new search engine project online at ClimateGift.com.

In particular, three environmental organizations will profit from ClimateGift.com’s charitable Web search project. They are:
• World Resources Institute, which endeavors to find practical ways to protect the earth and improve people’s lives
• Reef Check, which is dedicated to conservation of the tropical coral reefs and California rocky reefs
• Earth Island Institute, which develops and supports projects that counteract threats to the biological and cultural diversity that sustain the environment

ClimateGift.com is a fundraising tool that will work 24/7 to help provide funding for these organizations to help them reach their organizational goals. Websites and blogs can also make an impact by putting a ClimateGift.com search widget on their sites for their users or direct them to ClimateGift.com to use as their daily search engine and portal.
ClimateGift.com gives individuals a forward-thinking choice in Web-surfing options, one that satisfies their eco-consciousness in a way that Google and Yahoo! cannot. Also, users of ClimateGift.com can feel comfortable knowing that search results are comparable to these other search engines.
In addition, its AJAX portal option offers users a means of customizing their home page as well as access to a wide variety of news, games and tools from across the Web. Each organization’s portal includes specific widgets and news that support its initiatives. The environmental community will also appreciate the “Environment” category ClimateGift.com offers.
Tim Herzog, Director of Online Communications at World Resource Institute explains, “WRI is embarking on a mission to develop and build online communities among people who share our values and want to support our work. ClimateGift.com is a great way to strengthen those relationships. We can give people a better online experience that lets them support WRI with no cost to them.”

Gohov

Gohov is a new Social networking website with their catch phrase and motto as Gohov Learn More. They help college students get together and find where they can get a ride to and from a place. If it is to a concert I am sure many people will be going there and you may not have a ride, you can look up some people that may be able to give you a ride and you can all become some great friends.

You can either look for a ride or if you are free to offer rides to other people, you can post your own ride. Note that this is only open to college students and recent alumni so if you are still in high school, don’t try to fool the system because it will find out. You need to have an email address under your college’s name that ends in .edu which isn’t easy for high school kids to get their hands on. They are running a launch promotion where you can win a free iphone or a $50 gas card.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

New online social network helps college students connect to find and share rides

Gohov.com launches its new online social network for college students looking to create and share rides with friends and other students. Gohov.com allows students to search for rides by their college and/or surrounding schools, or by their interests. Those looking to create a ride can either share it privately with friends or post it to the entire Gohov.com community.

The Gohov.com service was designed to provide today’s savvy college student with an easy way to connect with other students through ride sharing. In addition, Gohov.com is dedicated to the safety of all student riders and drivers. The site features viewable user profiles and a user ride rating system, giving students the ability to review potential passengers or drivers and decide on whom is best to ride with.

Gohov.com will also be actively involved with colleges nationwide and local communities co-sponsoring designated driver programs and providing students with detailed information on how to start Safe Ride Programs at their schools.

Students joining today are automatically entered in our launch promotion where they can possibly win an iPHONE or $50 gas cards.

Email Sending Script

Right now I am in search of finding a good script that can send out mass emails. It is for my forum so not it isn’t for spam more of newsletters that will let me do it with a cron job rather than a whole bunch at once. So doing it through a mail list will be appropriate since I can put intervals between a certain set of mails.

Buzzfuse

Buzzfuse is an online service that a lot of blog owners should be excited about including myself. They help blogs get loads of traffic after submitting images and stories from your blogs into their engine. This is type of a social bookmarking site that works very well and many people have seen success from this.

I have just signed up with their service and I am still in the process of figuring stuff out. Because trust me, I would not mind at all getting some extra visitors to my blog, especially this one. Well I’d actually be grateful for a bit more traffic coming my way. Buzzfuse is an attractive and clever name because it is out to make a buzz about your blog’s news. Hopefully I can implement that into my blogs and get some extra traffic. You should do the same if you have blogs for yourself.

Spock

There are many search engines on the web but none that are special and unique like Spock search engine is. Spock is not a new search engine yet not many people use it. You don’t type in keywords here to get the listings for your favorite website. But lets say you had a friend in kindergarten and you wanted to know what he was up to. You remember his full name and even where he lived at one point but had lost contact with him. You can search his name on Spock and check if any results come up. Yes that means Spock is a type of People search engine where you can search for your friends and family all around the internet. If they are listed somewhere, they are likely to be found on Spock. And you could re unite with your kindergarten friend.

I have searched for my name and surprisingly, it had found me and I was on the front page. I am a very private guy and I don’t like to share my name and address and stuff with others on the internet. But with a simple face book registration I had done years ago, it actually listed me on the front page with my face book profile picture. It was pretty cool. I will not state my name here so you can search because, well, I am still a private guy. You can search for your name or friends. And in your search for friends, your name may come up because it can find you through associates as well. I found myself by searching a friend and it was pretty weird and cool at the same time but I’m glad I Found Spock. Now I won’t have to look at the Yellow Pages first to see if the person is listed in the phone book. That could take ages to find.

Google Toolbar

I use the google toolbar in two out of the three main browsers that I use. It came free with firefox. Well it is free because I don’t have to pay for it but free meaning it came along the firefox download when I downloaded firefox. With Internet Explorer, I had to download the IE version of it to keep track of it all. I use firefox and Internet Explorer equally and then Opera browser comes into play sometimes. They are all great and the google toolbar helps me keep organized and helps me search faster.
