FTP

Posted by LiNuX in Webmaster

FTP Allows all of us to connect to a remote server through an FTP Manager and it makes file transfer much easier than ever before. Of course you can use your browser’s HTTP manager to upload and download files, but you will have to do that per file and you can’t even transfer whole folders from one server or computer to another. With FTP that and more is possible.

With FTP, you can transfer folders in bulk both ways and just download and upload the files you need and then go away to watch TV. With the Traditional HTTP Method, You will need to come back very often to start the next http download or upload.

If you are wondering which FTP Manager is good and free at the same time, I have just one recommendation for you. FileZilla is an FTP Manager which is completely Free and it is great. You can transfer files both ways in and out of the server and it’s free. I just can’t say that enough. I use FileZilla and I am very happy with it.

Just Search up FileZilla somewhere and download it and see if it fits you.

Bandwidth

Posted by LiNuX in Webmaster

Bandwidth is something that comes with any web hosting account. Bandwidth measures how much traffic you are allowed to get. Bandwidth is used every time a page is loaded on that host account. Usually a regular used website will need about 10 gigabytes of bandwidth per month. Larger websites can use up to several terabytes of bandwidth a day.

Web Image

Posted by LiNuX in Webmaster

Web Image has set up a new program which is kind of an Online Advancement program where it is designed to help business succeed. You can Click here for more information about this issue because you will get more information on their site than on here. They offer their Web Design and web support, web promotion, and web optimization program to anyone that may need it.

So what will 1 Web Image do for you and your business? They will make you a customized website and then help you promote the site even though you didn’t have to do much work on it. If you haven’t expanded your business borders to the internet yet, I suggest that you really do this and 1 Web Image can help you do exactly that. They are professional and they always keep their products and services clean and keep their customers satisfied.

Sites with Potential

Posted by LiNuX in Webmaster

If you open a site you have a site with potential to succeed in the real world. That is just my personal opinion anyway but I do believe that all sites that come out have potential to succeed. I have seen people that flame other websites saying that they “suck” and they will never get anywhere and that is just absolutely wrong.

I have opened a forum over a year and a half ago known as Gamers Forum, which was frequently mentioned on this blog. I have had people tell me that it is too hard to manage a forum and that we will get no where, and I have proved all of them wrong, and they are no where to be seen to criticize my sites anymore.

If you open a site for the first time, don’t let anyone tell you that you or your site cannot succeed.

Yahoo Indexes

Posted by LiNuX in Webmaster

In the past, yahoo has always indexed more pages and given nearly double the results of its competing search engine and all of our favorite, Google. Yahoo still gives a lot more results than Google and for the reason that Yahoo is less lazy. They send out a lot more yahoo slurp bots than google and I notice that from looking at my forum. Nearly 300 times more yahoo bots than google bots visit my forum everyday.

Hosting an Arcade

Posted by LiNuX in Webmaster

From experience of hosting an arcade, I know that you should have plenty of web hosting space along with a lot of bandwidth. People will go around a lot of pages in your arcade looking for good games to play and each time a page is loaded, bandwidth is used. If you run out of bandwidth at the middle of the month, you won’t have a host for half of the month and that can take away activity and visitors and have a big drop in income and dedicated visitors to your site and that’s something you don’t want.

PPC

Posted by LiNuX in Webmaster

PPC Stands for Pay Per Click and there are a few programs out there that will help you get visitors where you pay per click to your site. Google Adwords happen to be the most famous and best one in my opinion. Yahoo Search Marketing is the second most well known one followed by MSN AdCenter. I have so far tried out Google Adwords and Yahoo Search Marketing and used about the same amount of money. I will tell you that Google brought in a lot more targetted traffic than yahoo.

Email Forwarder

Posted by LiNuX in Webmaster

If you have a website and you get a lot of emails to your admin (@) yoursite.com email address then you should know what I am talking about. If you are using CPANEL and its webmail system, I have to tell you that this is a bad idea because of how unorganized this is. They have Horde mail and Squirrel mail and neither are organized so you can use the email forwarding feature of the cpanel webmail and forward all the mail to an email address that can help you organize it.

Don’t Spam Your Name

Posted by LiNuX in Webmaster

I have owned Gamers Forum for quite a while to know how some people just make a fool of their site and just give it a bad name just by going to other forums and spamming the name. Posts like “visit this site” or “go here” and that seems to be their only post. It is pretty annoying to all forum owners.

If you plan to do anything like this, Don’t!!! Just do it the smart way. Follow forum rules. Get used to the forum members. Discuss something with them. And then IF they allow advertisements, you can go ahead and advertise. Always give a brief description because just a link will flag you as a spammer in most forums. Also those guys with the MP3 and other stupid links, they get banned all over the place, their site name just gets a horrible reputation in more and more forums because of their stupidity. Don’t be like them, play it smart and play it fair.

Managing Several Websites

Posted by LiNuX in Webmaster

Some people have more than one website to manage and they do a pretty well job managing them all at the same time. I happen to be one with more than one site of course. I have over a dozen websites. Yes a dozen. I don’t really get to update all of them at the same time. Out of about 6 blogs I update or try to update about 3 of them daily. The others I get to when I have the chance.

Managing several sites takes skills and shows just how well you can manage your time. If you can do it well enough you can manage a dozen sites unlike me which I can actually update about 6 or 7 a day at maximum. My full effort goes into my forum of course. So always think about which site matters to you mose and which you want to give most of your attention to. And use the rest of your time and spread it to your smaller sites. It always works out, trust me.
