Alzheimer Disease or AD was first discovered in the early 20th Century. This will just result in short term memory loss and can sometimes affect one’s vision. Research has come far for this disease and the symptons can be kept under control with medicine and therapy. This brings me to Memory Walk. Memory Walk is just an event that is part of the Alzheimer’s Association. Memory Walk is an event that is about the same age as me that was first brought up in 1989. Since then, this event has raised over $225 million that went into the research for Alzheimer. They have several teams with a Team Captain. These team captians recruit members for the team to raise funds for the cause.
Team Captians are absolutely necessary and if you would like to help them out with this event and raise more funds to help the research, check out the Alzheimer’s Association website for more information on how you can sign up. You should do it early to make sure you have enough time to recruit a whole team.
This is truly a great experience and it is WorldWide so it doesn’t matter if you live in the USA or somewhere in Europe. The research is universal and all funds collected will be used for the same reason. And don’t worry if you don’t like walking. The walk is held in the Fall season, perfect weather and temperature to walk, and it is only 2 to 3 miles long. That’s not much and if you are with friends, you can talk along the walk. Good luck to those that will join up!
