Unexpected Downtime

Posted on March 16, 2008 by LiNuX

For some reason all the mySQL databases would not work on this server. I have just three sites on this server that require a mySQL database and they were all down for hours without an explanation. The host isn’t the best ever and I really doubt I’ll be getting an explanation to what just happened.

First Proxy Lives On

Posted on March 14, 2008 by LiNuX

My first ever proxy was set to expire in a few days and I had started the Transfer process to another registrar from the current one over a week ago. It finally was finalized!! I am happy that it finally happened otherwise I would have had to cancel the domain transfer the last day and pay extra to renew it.

Do You Like Oysters?

Posted on March 14, 2008 by LiNuX

Millions of people around the globe love to eat oysters. These are mollusks that are rich in sources such as zinc, vitamin B-12, and omega-3 fatty acids. These minerals and vitamins help our bodies grow and be healthy. And if you eat your oysters after they have been cooked, and cooked well I might add, then you shouldn’t have to worry. Some people love to eat Raw Gulf oysters or even have then undercooked to keep it rawish but not fully raw and they don’t know it could be a risk to their health.

A nasty bacteria called the Vibrio vulnificus bacteria can be deadly to some. This is from eating raw or undercooked oysters because even though they may be tasty, they are still creatures of the wild sea and there are many types of bacteria that will get in your body if they are not killed by cooking them. You can go to BeOysterAware.com for more information on these effects oysters can have on you including getting info on the post-harvest process.

VPS

Posted on March 14, 2008 by LiNuX

If you are thinking I am trying to post about how you can set up your own computer to serve as a VPS or Virtual Private Server, then you are mistaken. It is just to tell you about what it is because hopefully I plan to do that with my own server so I can separate the resources for one thing and another to avoid collision of any sort. Hopefully I can learn that quickly and hopefully it won’t cost me a lot of money or any money at all.

A VPS is like a server, well it actually is a server, it is a virtual server. If a server has 2 gigabytes of RAM, you can set it so you have 4 customers on that server getting 512 MB of RAM each. And 4 times 512 mb is 2 gigabytes. It is efficient and it is a great way to make sure one person’s work never interferes with someone else’s.

If I cannot set this up I may actually get a VPS myself from an external company since it is cheaper than a dedicated server and if problems with hosting keeps on occurring, I may have no choice.

Digital Photo Frame

Posted on March 12, 2008March 12, 2008 by LiNuX

Did you ever see a digital photo frame? If not it is just a regular picture frame but it is digital. You can set up a kind of slide show on your digital photo frames so it rotates around several pictures instead of bunching them all up in the same screen. It is digital so you can assume it is because the Technological Revolution brought it to us.

If you are looking for a good place to buy these digital frames, I can only recommend that you go to Digital Frames Direct and find a wide selection and variety of digital frames along with the best prices. I have seen digital Frames at local stores here and the prices compared to Digital Frames Direct, you probably will regret stepping out that door. You can simply go to DigitalFramesDirect.com and order it online, this way you save money along with the trouble of going outside to actually look for these.

Testing Web Server on PC

Posted on March 11, 2008 by LiNuX

I stated before about setting up my current server to handle websites, now I am thinking of doing something else first to test it all out and make sure it goes smoothly without a problem. My current PC is a lot more powerful than my server right now so I will be working on setting this computer up to handle my websites. Hopefully I can get it done.
