The Joy of Server Move

Posted on March 17, 2008 by LiNuX

My forum along with a few blogs were moved from one server to another, supposedly better server. But ever since the move none of the files have been working properly. More importantly the htaccess and other script files such as php and perl haven’t been working properly.

It is extremely frustrating because I can’t do anything about it and I am losing visitors along with potential members and who could forget the activity on both blogs and forums.

Hope they fix the issue soon because it is very annoying.

Testing Web Server on PC

Posted on March 11, 2008 by LiNuX

I stated before about setting up my current server to handle websites, now I am thinking of doing something else first to test it all out and make sure it goes smoothly without a problem. My current PC is a lot more powerful than my server right now so I will be working on setting this computer up to handle my websites. Hopefully I can get it done.

Setting up Home Web Server

Posted on March 10, 2008 by LiNuX

Over the course of the week into the weekend I’ll be working on setting up my server to handle websites. I will move one of my active blogs into it and hope that it can handle the website and hopefully handle a lot of traffic. WZJZ is a candidate that may be picked to go into my server, I have not finalized which blog of mine will go.

BuzzFuse.com

Posted on March 4, 2008 by LiNuX

Buzzfuse.com is the hottest attraction for all blog owners and blog lovers. If you have a story that you feel many will like or will benefit from, buzzfuse is probably the place to go. I am a registered member and I have used their service already. The sign up process is extremely fast and the blog article submission is even faster.

You can find Buzzfuse at BuzzFuse.com of course. And now they are running a $180 contest where you can win one of a 1000 premium accounts which is a $180 value if you have 30 people in your ‘circle’ and if you have more than 2 registered Posts. Imagine getting a great deal like that with having done just very little work. Highly recommended if you ask me.

Another PR Update?

Posted on March 4, 2008 by LiNuX

People have been ranting about how there is another PR update occurring right now and how they have been benefiting or have been getting ticked off. I really haven’t noticed since none of my websites have seen any changes in Page Rank or even search engine rank positions or SERPs.

Since None of my websites have seen any form of changes, I feel as if I am the only one not seeing changes. But thoughts and feelings changed when I was speaking to some people on some forums saying how their new sites got Page rank but how their older and much more established websites have seen no changes at all. I fit into that category.

Just weird how google does things these days.

FTP

Posted on February 26, 2008 by LiNuX

FTP Allows all of us to connect to a remote server through an FTP Manager and it makes file transfer much easier than ever before. Of course you can use your browser’s HTTP manager to upload and download files, but you will have to do that per file and you can’t even transfer whole folders from one server or computer to another. With FTP that and more is possible.

With FTP, you can transfer folders in bulk both ways and just download and upload the files you need and then go away to watch TV. With the Traditional HTTP Method, You will need to come back very often to start the next http download or upload.

If you are wondering which FTP Manager is good and free at the same time, I have just one recommendation for you. FileZilla is an FTP Manager which is completely Free and it is great. You can transfer files both ways in and out of the server and it’s free. I just can’t say that enough. I use FileZilla and I am very happy with it.

Just Search up FileZilla somewhere and download it and see if it fits you.

Bandwidth

Posted on February 7, 2008 by LiNuX

Bandwidth is something that comes with any web hosting account. Bandwidth measures how much traffic you are allowed to get. Bandwidth is used every time a page is loaded on that host account. Usually a regular used website will need about 10 gigabytes of bandwidth per month. Larger websites can use up to several terabytes of bandwidth a day.

Sites with Potential

Posted on January 25, 2008January 25, 2008 by LiNuX

If you open a site you have a site with potential to succeed in the real world. That is just my personal opinion anyway but I do believe that all sites that come out have potential to succeed. I have seen people that flame other websites saying that they “suck” and they will never get anywhere and that is just absolutely wrong.

I have opened a forum over a year and a half ago known as Gamers Forum, which was frequently mentioned on this blog. I have had people tell me that it is too hard to manage a forum and that we will get no where, and I have proved all of them wrong, and they are no where to be seen to criticize my sites anymore.

If you open a site for the first time, don’t let anyone tell you that you or your site cannot succeed.

Yahoo Indexes

Posted on December 21, 2007 by LiNuX

In the past, yahoo has always indexed more pages and given nearly double the results of its competing search engine and all of our favorite, Google. Yahoo still gives a lot more results than Google and for the reason that Yahoo is less lazy. They send out a lot more yahoo slurp bots than google and I notice that from looking at my forum. Nearly 300 times more yahoo bots than google bots visit my forum everyday.
