Posted on October 14, 2007October 14, 2007 by LiNuX

The Hummer H3 is the third member in the Hummer family, a group of civilian cars that can trace their ancestry back to the military Hummer, formally known as the M998 HMMWV. The acronym HMMWV stands for High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle and this vehicle was designed for the United States armed forces to replace militarized civilian trucks.

Released in 2006, the Hummer H3 is the smallest of the three Hummer models and is more of a conventional SUV than a military vehicle. It comes with a GMT345 platform is based on the GMT355, a platform that you can find in cars such as the GMC Canyon and the Chevrolet Colorado.

The Hummer H3 price for the American market ranges from $29,500 to slightly above $40,000. If you want to, you can purchase an H3x trim update and get chrome and body-colored parts that will set your H3 apart from the standard version. In 2007, a new trim level for the 2008 model year H3 was introduced, the H3 Alpha, and if you want to you can combine the H3x with the H3 Alpha. The H3 Alpha can also be used on its own. The H3 Alpha package contains Vortec 5.3 L V-8 rated at 295 horsepower (224 kW) and 317 ft.lbf of torque (438 N•m) and will give your Hummer H3 a towing capacity of to 6,000 pounds (2,721 kg).
