Finding Scholarships

Posted on October 7, 2007 by LiNuX

Scholarships can be seen as getting free money for school but in the United States it usually means for college. Scholarships are awards and grants given to students pursuing a higher education who needs a little help paying for college. I know I did when I first started out. Scholarships are given based on certain criteria whether it’s academics, athletics, or anything else. It just focuses on a specialty and helps the person with a little extra boost.

I have gotten several scholarships for excellence in academics and I am very thankful for that. Without scholarships I probably wouldn’t be able to go to the expensive college that I attend at this time. I have done a lot of research and only a few sites were able to help me out, one including Scholarship.com. They give you information on different types of scholarships and list how much money you can get out of it. They also list information on government grants that you can get. Why would you question free money? Just go for it if you think you have a shot because you really have nothing to lose except time to fill out the application and give them what they require. Good luck to all those college bound students, hopefully you can get as many scholarships as I’ve gotten.

Forum Archives

Posted on October 7, 2007 by LiNuX

Archives are generally known as a way to look back into the past of any website. You cannot change or update the content but it’s there. It is very seo friendly because search engine bots like to surf through archives more than the site itself since everything is in order and looks great. A forum archive is basically the same thing. It’s just a link that keeps all the posts, threads, boards, and members in a cartain page of the forum for the search engine bots to enjoy themselves.

Archives of all sites are taken once in a while and saved by Archive.org so if you are wondering what site was on your domain 3 years ago, you can check it there. But if you just newly registered the domain and it was never dropped, don’t bother looking because you will most likely come up empty. If you have a vBulletin forum like I do then you have no worries since the software saves an archive and it is a built in feature. If you have other forum softwares be sure to see if there is a modification available to addon that feature because that can help you out later on with search engines.

Mortgage Forms

Posted on October 7, 2007 by LiNuX

If you have ever taken out a mortgage before in your life, I am sure you have seen a ton of different mortgage forms. Each form has its own feature and meaning. Missing that form could mean you are not getting your deal. And if you are a broker, you are probably aware of these forms because you need your clients to fill out these forms and these work as mortgage dividers that separate different types of mortgages so it doesn’t cause confusion.

Having a mortgage form that is the same for a car and a house would cause major confusion later on when something legal needs to be done. ZBP Forms is a company that provides these mortgage forms for all brokers. If you are not a broker you have no use of this unless you are thinking of going into that business later on. They sell pages along with the whole thing so you are not missing anything. If you need more information you can always check out their site at ZBPForms.com.

YaBB

Posted on October 7, 2007 by LiNuX

YaBB is a forum content management software (CMS) that is pretty secure and easy to use. My gaming forum used to be a YaBB forum but before I tell you about that you have to know what it stands for. YaBB stands for Yet Another Bulletin Board and it is correct, there are litterally over a 100 different types of forum softwares out there and YaBB is yet another one.

YaBB uses the Perl computer language so it makes it much harder for hackers to hack. It is harder to code that php so it is less vulnerable to attacks. And its admin control panel is one of the easiest I have used so far. I have used it for my forum for about 5 months before switching to SMF also known as Simple Machines Forum. It is pretty safe but comes with a bad side of having not very attractive themes or skins. It has some pretty professional looking ones but those aren’t as good as SMF or phpBB skins. The modifications are also available but very scarce since Perl isn’t the easiest language out there. But if you want to try it out, you can always go ahead and see what I am talking about.

Filter Guide

Posted on October 7, 2007 by LiNuX

Filter Guide is a website out to help you protect your computer from spam, spyware, and viruses with their excellent softwares that includes anti-virus, anti spyware, and other internet security tools. There are many antispyware programs out there but very few of them can actually promise you safety and then deliver it to you day in and day out. Other programs just want to get downloaded and then benefit you for a few days that just start acting up.

Filter Guide gives you information and reviews on which programs out there will work for you and keep your computer safe from viruses and other malicious programs and scripts. Spyware usually come into your computer and just read everything and copy it then sends it back to its host. That can cause identity theft and it is currently one of the leading causes of identity theft in the world. So protect yourself and your computer.

Yahoo’s Index Rates

Posted on October 7, 2007 by LiNuX

People always argue that Google is the alltime best search engine in the world. Well I am not here to argue with that but I am here to talk about another huge search engine people tend to overlook for some reason. People don’t think that Yahoo! Search Engine is really that good but have you ever compared the search results of both Google and Yahoo? Yahoo seems to return more results and sometimes, the more results can mean that you found what you were looking for. Google tends to narrow down the search results on just a few sites.

Yahoo’s search results are good because the yahoo bots are more lively and they tend to Index a lot more pages from a site. By index I mean they enter it into the search engine so when you search a certain keyword, that site has a chance of coming up for that keyword. I have seen that with more than a few sites because yahoo returns about 3 or 4 times more backlink results than google ever has for me. Just a little tip for the next time you search.

Chat Line

Posted on October 7, 2007 by LiNuX

These days social networking sites just aren’t enough. If you haven’t noticed this already but sites like MySpace is really losing popularity. Xanga used to another social networking site and so did Sconex and where are they now? They lost too much popularity and people just stopped going on them. But now there is another way to meet people and make friends and it is much more interactive and it is called Chat Line.

Chatline on talk121.com allows people to chat on the phone and I’ve looked at the list of phone numbers and they are in about every state in the United States. Although it is just in the United States, it has a large memberbase and it shows popularity. If you want you can always get the free trial line that they have set up and see how that works out. Meeting people can be great because these people are your future.

iPod Nano – Next Generation

Posted on October 7, 2007October 7, 2007 by LiNuX

THe next gernation of iPod Nano came out not too long ago and Apple is just getting better and better at making the product much smaller but much more better. Now it is almost half the size of the previous iPod Nano and holds about the same and double the space. The new nano can now hold videos just like a regular sized iPod video without the extra size.

You can get the new ipod at the apple store or anywhere else that sells tech products such as MP3 and CD players. The space on these can go from 4 gigabytes to 8 gigabytes. About double the space of my old version of the iPod nano and quadruple the space of the first generation iPod nano. Price is also cheap and affordable because price starts at just $149 for this new machine and makes it to many people’s most wanted list for gifts this coming holiday.

Cell Phone Plans

Posted on October 7, 2007 by LiNuX

When you see someone with a cell phone in their ear walking pass you the street, you can assume that there is a very high chance that person is on a cell phone plan. Cell phone plans just give you a certain amount of free minutes you get per month and along with extra features. Features such as this include voice mail, text messaging, roaming, internet, email, and there are certainly more features. These days most cell phone plans give you free voice mail and some sort of roaming time before you have to pay. My cell phone plan gives me both for free and I get it from T-Mobile. Since there are many cell phone companies out there offering you different services for different prices, it is always good to compare cell phone plans to see which fits you best and which is actually giving you the best deal.

Most cell phone plans come with a contract of one or two years. Unfortunately my cell phone plan comes with a two year contract and I cannot get out of it until it expires which still has about two years left. I have compared the plans before i went with anything. Well I have a family plan so I save a lot more getting the whole plan with my family. We get about 1000 free minutes per month and free voice mail along with free roaming. We never go above the given free minutes so we have nothing to worry about with the extra fees that come with extra minutes used. So also take a look at how much the company offering you service charges for minutes gone after the limit. Some may charge $0.15 and others may charge you as much as a $1 so be careful and read the whole contract and ask questions if necessary. You don’t want to end up.

You can check Wirefly’s Wireless Wizard on the internet because they list all the plans that will fit you for the price you need. And the best part is that they can find you plans that do not require yearly or even monthly contracts.
