YaBB

Posted on October 7, 2007 by LiNuX

YaBB is a forum content management software (CMS) that is pretty secure and easy to use. My gaming forum used to be a YaBB forum but before I tell you about that you have to know what it stands for. YaBB stands for Yet Another Bulletin Board and it is correct, there are litterally over a 100 different types of forum softwares out there and YaBB is yet another one.

YaBB uses the Perl computer language so it makes it much harder for hackers to hack. It is harder to code that php so it is less vulnerable to attacks. And its admin control panel is one of the easiest I have used so far. I have used it for my forum for about 5 months before switching to SMF also known as Simple Machines Forum. It is pretty safe but comes with a bad side of having not very attractive themes or skins. It has some pretty professional looking ones but those aren’t as good as SMF or phpBB skins. The modifications are also available but very scarce since Perl isn’t the easiest language out there. But if you want to try it out, you can always go ahead and see what I am talking about.
