Get College Info

Posted on November 16, 2007 by LiNuX

I have been attending college for about the past four months of my life. So far I will tell you that this is the best experience of my life. I am meeting new people, I am taking the classes I actually want to take, and my grades are excellent due to some great teachers teaching me the subject. If you are a college bound High School senior, you will need to get as much college information as you possibly can because every college is different and special in their own way and trust me, you want it to be different and special in YOUR own way and not the college’s own will.

You can go to AnyCollege.com and get information on the different types of colleges out there. Get an insight on the types of classes and courses they offer and what type of degrees they offer. If you want to be an engineer when you grow up and you end up going to a school that specializes in Medicine, what will you do then? Transferring can take time but stop wasting time and fill your head with information because this will help you out greatly when the time comes. Good luck!

Two Months of College

Posted on October 29, 2007 by LiNuX

Today is the second month I have been to college and I thought I’d give you a little update on how it is going. Well first, it is AWESOME. College is full of new people and it’s all about making new friends and hanging out some old ones. This is where you can change your life and set aim to what you want to be. High School grades does not matter here. If you did bad at high school, this is your time to restart your life and show everyone that you can be better.

So far I have met a ton of people, had a ton of assignments, and I am still having fun. College isn’t all about fun and it isn’t all about work. It is half and half. You do one while you do the other and if you know how to manage your time like me, you can do those two and have a little extra time to do anything else. If you are thinking about going to college, make sure that you do, don’t let the college life and experience wait for you. Just go and grab any opportunity you get.

Getting a Tutor

Posted on October 10, 2007October 11, 2007 by LiNuX

If any child needs help with any part of school, it is always a good idea to get a tutor. i have tutored in my old junior high school and high school in the subject of english, reading, math, and science. Reading Tutors and math tutors are some of the easiest to find since those are the most taken subjects in the country. I have seen a students struggle with these subjects just for a little bit.

If you have a child from the age of 4 to 14 and if he or she is having trouble in any subject, just take my advice and try to get some help for them from a tutor that excels in that subject. If I was in your area with a bit of free time, I may have even helped. Don’t ever wait until its too late to take action because you will regret it later on as a parent, and you will make your child regret not being able to get help.

Finding Scholarships

Posted on October 7, 2007 by LiNuX

Scholarships can be seen as getting free money for school but in the United States it usually means for college. Scholarships are awards and grants given to students pursuing a higher education who needs a little help paying for college. I know I did when I first started out. Scholarships are given based on certain criteria whether it’s academics, athletics, or anything else. It just focuses on a specialty and helps the person with a little extra boost.

I have gotten several scholarships for excellence in academics and I am very thankful for that. Without scholarships I probably wouldn’t be able to go to the expensive college that I attend at this time. I have done a lot of research and only a few sites were able to help me out, one including Scholarship.com. They give you information on different types of scholarships and list how much money you can get out of it. They also list information on government grants that you can get. Why would you question free money? Just go for it if you think you have a shot because you really have nothing to lose except time to fill out the application and give them what they require. Good luck to all those college bound students, hopefully you can get as many scholarships as I’ve gotten.

Deisgn School

Why do people go to design schools? There are a few reasons but some of the common ones are, they love to design, they want to learn to design, or they want to get better at designing. There is more than one type of design so of course, there is more than one type of design school. You can’t expect to have just one category in anything. Even if you go into a career in law, you can do criminal or civil law and there are dozens of other branches. As for graphics, two very well known categories are graphic and interior design. Graphic designers basically work with computers and ad companies. Interior designers work with houses, apartments, and just work with making a place look better than it already is now. And interior design schools actually have rankings. The interior design schools ranking system is cool and a way for letting people know what school is best.

Rankings for most design schools and categories are given by the Almanac of Architecture and Design. They list the top interior design schools around the whole world. So you don’t have to worry about staying in the United States to do your learning, you can go abroad and do it if you have the motivation to go. But one thing I’d like to mention from the top list is that two out of the top five are right here in New York. They include Pratt Institute and Cornell and I am proud to say that I live in a state that has excellent schools like that. But you just have to do your research even if design isn’t for you.

Direct Stafford Loan

Posted on August 24, 2007September 5, 2007 by LiNuX

As you may know, I am starting my college life next week and trust me when I say this, college is VERY expensive. But I believe that a college education is necessary to get a great job and get more opportunities. People with a college degree tend to make double those without a college degree or just a high school diploma. Even an associates degree will help you out in one way or another with your future career. The direct stafford loan is a type of scholarship even though you will have to pay the money back later on. Their interest rates are incredibly low and very affordable.

I was advised to take out the stafford college loan for myself for college but I had to refuse this semester. I have worked at my job the past year and I have saved up enough to pay for college at least one term and that’s my plan for now. And I know that the stafford loan is always there for me if I change my mind as they rarely turn people down for their loans. They only do this to help out students and they know that helping students now will pay off in the future.

If you don’t get full scholarship and sitll need money, you can take out a student loan anytime you wish. You won’t have to worry about paying back until after college and that’s why I like this type of loan. Good luck to all those starting out college just like I am.

Which College Should I Go To? That is a very common question among all high school seniors and some high school juniors. Trying to figure out the right college to go to can be a huge hassle and troubling for teenagers. I know because my past 2 years of high school, I have been strugling to get accepted into many collegs and trying to figure out which one to go to. One college I wanted to apply to was Gibbs. They have great programs that can help not just me, but help anyone get their associates or bachelors degree and pursue Graduate school later on. You can contact them here. Contact them and ask for more information about their programs or if you have any other questions you’d like to know.

Here are some tips to Picking the right college for you. First, think about what you want to be when you grow up. Although your undergraduate years do not determine if you will bececome that lawyer or doctor, you can get skills earlier in life before grad school. Second, check if you can afford to pay for the college tuition per term after all financial aid and scholarships. And third but not least, visit that school if you can before you accept and see if you like the environment of learning. Most colleges have some sort of orientation and/or tour of the college. I went to my tour and orientation and I figured this was the right school for me.

Take my tips and you will find your right school.
